3D Printed Concordia University Art Project

We 3D printed this art project for Concordia University student Chloë Charce who got the public art commission.  Read her review on Facebook.

She was among the six MFA students in sculpture from Concordia University that were selected to present a maquette for an outdoor permanent sculpture. The project is initiated by First Capital Realty company, owner of shopping centres around the country.

The public art project Une forêt de vert (verre), which will be installed outside of the Carré Lucerne (Montreal), consists of five organic columns of different heights. They have been initially conceptualized in relation with the universal image of the vase. Their intriguing shapes recall both the skyscrapers of the city and the trees of the forest. The first inspiration of superimposing vases historically refers to the transport and trade of goods such as wine, beer, oils and perfume, which were transported in amphoras and other containers, firs made in ceramic and glass. They are symbols of exchange value and trade.

"By the size and arrangement of the elements, my piece offers a strong visual impact as well as an intimate relationship with the viewer. It becomes a place of passage, between the parking lot and the buildings. It is contemplative, poetic and playful, bringing a metaphorical forest in the city.  First Capital Realty shopping centers in urban areas offer a close relationship with the costumer, as they are not huge and they are located near residential areas," says Chloë Charce.
